Rioned UK Sales Representative Billy Rowan
Company name: Rioned UK
Company representative: Billy Rowan
Job title: UK Sales Representative
What services do you deliver to the water jetting industry?
Rioned designs, manufactures, supplies and supports professional drain and sewer cleaning equipment for contractors, utilities, local authorities and service businesses across the UK and Ireland.
Our range includes van-pack jetters, trailer jetters, jet/vac combination units, portable jetters, mechanical drain cleaning machines, jetting nozzles, hoses, accessories, inspection cameras and detection equipment.
We also provide equipment servicing, repairs, parts supply, rental machines and finance options to help customers keep their fleets working efficiently.
What new service developments should we look out for from you in the next year or so? Ones you can tell us about!
Connectivity, sustainability and complete fleet support are major areas of focus for Rioned.
RioConnect is now an important part of our offer, giving customers remote, real-time access to machine data that can help them monitor performance, usage and location.
This supports better fleet management, improved productivity and more informed servicing decisions.
We are also continuing to develop electric and low-emission jetting solutions, as more customers look for equipment that can operate in urban areas, low-emission zones, enclosed environments and noise-sensitive locations.
In the UK, we are also expanding the way we support customers beyond the machine itself, with finance, rental, service packages, accessories and vehicle-based solutions that help contractors build complete operational setups around their equipment.
What are the three most important elements of service delivery for your customers and why?
The first is safety and usability. Water jetting equipment is powerful. Clear controls, remote operation, machine diagnostics, safety systems, and our product training all help operators work more confidently and safely.
The second is reliability. Drainage contractors depend on their machines every day, often in time-critical situations. A jetter or jet vac has to perform consistently, because downtime affects customers, schedules and revenue.
The third is support. Customers need fast access to advice, parts, servicing and repairs. We want customers to feel supported throughout the full working life of their equipment.

What have been the business highlights for Rioned over the last 12 months?
A major highlight has been Rioned’s 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of innovation in drain and sewer cleaning equipment. It has been a great opportunity to reflect on how far the company has come, while also looking ahead to the next generation of machines.
We’ve also seen strong interest in connected equipment, particularly with RioConnect and the latest CityJet developments. Customers are
increasingly looking for machines that do more than simply deliver pressure and flow. They want insight, control, diagnostics and better fleet visibility.
Another highlight has been the continued development of our jet vac range, including the launch this year of the MaxCom 18-tonne jet vac tanker, now the largest machine in our compact range.
It uses a rotary blower pump for suction, so it can move larger quantities of drain and sewer debris more quickly, while remaining compact enough to operate extremely well in urban areas.
Tell us something that anyone outside the industry would find amazing about your products and/or services or what they can achieve.
Many people outside the industry don’t realise how much technology sits behind a modern jet vac tanker. It can include advanced machine management, remote control operation, water-level monitoring, diagnostics, hose metering, emissions technology, electric drive systems and connected data reporting.
It’s also impressive just how much work can be done by compact equipment. The industry is largely unseen by the public, but the work it does is essential to homes, businesses, roads, utilities and public health.
What’s the biggest change in technology or process you have witnessed in your service sector in recent years?
We’ve seen a major shift in expectations around emissions, noise and sustainability. Electric jetting machines and low-emission drive options are becoming increasingly relevant, particularly for urban work and contracts where environmental performance is important.
What do you think will be the biggest changes or challenges over the next 10 years?
The next decade will bring a greater focus on sustainability, data and workforce skills. Customers will need equipment that meets changing emissions requirements, supports lower running costs and can operate in increasingly regulated urban environments.
Electric and alternative drive technologies will continue to develop, but they must also remain practical for the realities of drainage work.
Another major challenge will be attracting and training skilled operators. Water jetting is a specialist activity, and safe, professional operation is essential. As machines become more advanced, training and industry standards will become even more important.

What are you most proud of about the way your team supports your customers?
The long-term relationships we build with customers are vital to us and to them. Contractors rely on their equipment every day, so they need a supplier that understands the pressure they’re under.
Our team works hard to provide practical advice, responsive support and solutions that are right for the customer’s work, vehicle, budget and future plans.
We’re also proud of the knowledge within the Rioned team. Cross the business, from sales to servicing, parts, rental, finance and technical support, our people understand our equipment and the industry it serves.
Ultimately, our aim is simple: to help customers keep working safely, efficiently and reliably.
How long has Rioned been a member of the WJA?
Rioned UK joined the WJA in 2026.
Why did Rioned decide to join the WJA?
As a manufacturer and supplier of professional jetting and jet vac equipment, we have a responsibility to support best practice. WJA membership gives us the opportunity to contribute to the wider industry conversation and to support an organisation that plays an important role in promoting safety and competence.
What do you think are the WJA’s key achievements?
The WJA has played an important role in raising awareness of safety and competence in water jetting. Its work around training, guidance and industry standards has helped create a more professional and better-informed sector.
That is extremely important because water jetting equipment is powerful and, if used incorrectly, can present serious risks.
What key issues do you think the WJA should focus on over the next three years, and why?
Safety and training should remain the highest priorities. As equipment becomes more advanced and the demand for drainage services continues to grow, it is essential that operators are properly trained and understand the risks associated with high-pressure water jetting.
The WJA also has an important role to play in supporting the next generation of skilled workers. Like many specialist industries, drainage and water jetting need to attract new talent and promote the sector as professional, technical and essential.
Sustainability is another key issue. Customers are increasingly looking at emissions, water usage, fuel efficiency and environmental performance. The industry will need clear, practical guidance as technology and regulation continue to evolve.
If Rioned were an animal, what kind would it be?
A beaver.
Beavers are hardworking, practical and closely connected to water management. They are natural engineers, building systems that keep water moving and landscapes functioning.
That feels like a good fit for Rioned. We design and support equipment that helps contractors keep drains, sewers and water infrastructure flowing, often through practical engineering solutions that the public rarely sees but depends on every day.
What would be a final point to make?
Rioned has been keeping businesses flowing since 1956, but we’re firmly focussed on the future. The drainage and water jetting industries are changing quickly, with new expectations around safety, sustainability, data, productivity and fleet management.
We want to play an active role in that future by supplying reliable equipment, supporting our customers and contributing to the professional standards that help the industry move forward.
