WJA Member Spotlight: Hydro Cutting Services Ltd

Company name: Hydro Cutting Services Ltd
Company representative: Brad Jackson-Graham
Job title: Managing Director
What services do you deliver to the water jetting industry?
Our core services include high-pressure water jetting (up to 10,000 psi), CCTV drainage surveying and CIPP liners.
What are the three most important elements of service delivery for your customers and why?
As obvious as it sounds quality, you just can’t compromise on this. We don’t want to just turn up, tick a box and go. We’d rather ensure that everything is done to the best and then exceeded.
Adaptability is also key. There will be times where something isn’t as simple as you had expected and HCS are great at understanding this and being prepared for different situations.
Lastly, reliability. Nobody wants to work with or hire someone they cannot depend on and the previous two factors definitely play into this one.
Tell us something that you think anyone outside the industry will find amazing about your products and/or services
The layout of our lorry mounted 10,000 psi high pressure units is bespoke, designed for user practicality and the re-design works are carried out in-house with the input from highly-experienced HPWJ engineers.
We are able to easily remove roots, scale and some concrete products from drainage systems with extreme precision by monitoring cutting works with CCTV cameras, greatly reducing the likelihood of damaging the host pipe.

What’s the biggest change in technology or process you have witnessed in your service sector in recent years?
The development of the ultra-high pressure directional water cutters.
What do you think will be the biggest changes or challenges over the next 10 years?
We’d say finding young recruits within the industry, or generally finding people who are interested in joining the industry. Although this industry is very hard working, it can also be really rewarding. We hope to see more people find their way to wanting to be a part of it.
What are you most proud of about the way your team supports your customers?
I’m most proud of my team’s care for their jobs. When someone doesn’t care it shows in their work. But our teams are always willing to learn more and do more.
Their dedication to getting excellent results and being able to offer alternative solutions, where necessary, gives our customers confidence in our company. Also, their flexibility to adapt to the customer’s needs is second to none.
How long has Hydro Cutting Services been a member of the WJA?
HCS signed up to the WJA at the end of last year but we have recently had our audit and happy to say we’ve officially joined!
Why did the company decide to join?
We wanted to have a better understanding and awareness of how we can improve and uphold standards. We want to continue to make sure health and safety is our biggest priority, and being a part of the WJA enhances that.
What advantages do you get from being a member of the WJA?
Being a part of creating a safer industry and an awareness of issues within it, it’s certainly important to work together. Having the WJA App with all of the advice is a fantastic addition, along with the support of Gordon Taylor, the WJA’s technical manager, who has been nothing but amazing with helping us. We’re also looking forward to attending WJA Trade Show 2025 on Thursday 11th September at StoneX in London.
If Hydro Cutting Services was an animal, what kind would it be?
A seal – We’re so at one with water, like a seal, we could sleep it in. But don’t worry, there’s no actual sleeping on the job for us!
