Revealed – the number behind the advantage of joining the WJA

The Water Jetting Association has reviewed and updated the benefits of being a member of the organisation to ensure they are aligned with developments of its services and most recent initiatives.
The member body for the UK’s water jetting industry has now identified 15 specific advantages of becoming a member – from getting access to expert technical advice to being part of a carbon-offset scheme.
Companies and organisations involved in the water jetting industry certainly appear keen to join the WJA in record numbers, with the association’s membership increasing by 25% in 2024.
Exciting developments drive value
WJA Director Leanne Smith said: “The WJA has developed as an organisation significantly over the last two years, including new ways to share useful information, new ways for members to promote their expertise, and more opportunities to participate in our activities.
“These exciting developments have meant now is the right moment to review the advantages membership brings, so we can promote the WJA more accurately and effectively to even more companies and organisations.”
The 15 benefits fall into a number of important themes, including marketing advantages, accessing WJA services and expertise, plus the ability to have business interests represented and to influence the development of the UK water jetting industry.
For example, WJA members can market their involvement with the WJA, giving them a reputational gain from sharing the trust and integrity of the recognised leader of the water jetting industry.
Also, by participating in the WJA’s Audited Member scheme – where their operations are audited as part of their membership renewal process – they can prove they set standards that customers value.
Free technical and medical advice
Another important benefit is instant access to important information, including the WJA’s three codes of practice, via the new WJA app.
WJA Board member and joint marketing lead Steve Sharp said: “The WJA app now gives WJA members instant access to technical advice, including the codes of practice, safety alerts and the training status of their operatives on the move.
“They also have access to free HR, safety and employment advice from Croner. It’s like having a water jetting and business in their pockets. More functionality is being added to the WJA app all the time.
“If information isn’t available via the app, members can contact our technical manager, Gordon Taylor, by phone or email. They can also get free, confidential medical advice from our medical advisor, Dr Sancho Rodriguez-Villar, a leading intensive care consultant.
“The WJA is determined to do all it can to provide members with the information they need to deliver safe and productive water jetting services.”
Commitment to maximising value
The WJA is also offering new ways for members to promote their services and participate pro-actively in WJA affairs.
WJA Trade Show 2025, which will be held for its second year at StoneX Stadium in north London, on Thursday 11th September, provides an event for members to showcase their services.
While changes to governance arrangements promise to provide members with more transparent ways to participate in the administration of the WJA itself.
Leanne Smith explained: “The WJA is now run by a Board of member representatives. At regular intervals, other member representatives can put themselves forward for election.
“Or they can join subgroups that are likely to be formed over the coming months to consider key issues and advice board members who lead on five core activities: membership, finance, technical issues, marketing, and coaching/examining.”
The WJA is a dynamic and member-led organisation that is fully committed to delivering maximum value for its members, said Leanne Smith, and the 15 newly-identified member benefits demonstrate it is achieving that objective.
