WJA Board approves exciting plan to expand training courses

The Water Jetting Association is preparing to launch a series of new accredited courses, greatly expanding the range of coaching opportunities it offers.
Three of the courses, CCTV, Gutter Cleaning, and Electro-Mechanical Cleaning, are due to be ready to be delivered from 1st April.
Three more courses – Remote Structural Repair, Graffiti Removal, and First Aid for Water Jetting – will be launched later in 2026.
A new practical module, Drain, Sewer and Robotics, is also due to be launched in 2026. As with other courses in the WJA examination programme, all have received City & Guilds accreditation.
WJA Chairman Lee O’Callaghan said: “This is an exciting and significant moment in the development of the WJA’s coaching and examination programme.
“We’re already by far the biggest provider of water jetting training. These new high-quality accredited courses are based on what our members tell us they need, and are designed to support their operational and commercial success.”
Other important developments agreed by the WJA Board include:
- Staying with the theme of training, the WJA will launch a new digital reporting system to provide more feedback about the performance of candidates. It will give their employers valuable information to assist in continuing to develop their skills and capabilities.
- The WJA’s three codes of practice – the Blue Code for high and ultra-high water jetting, the Red Code for drain and sewer jetting, and the Purple Code for pressure washers – are to be combined into one single code.
Work on the change is in its final stages. This will make it easier for water jetting specialists that deliver services covered by more than one code to set the highest operational standards. - The WJA is working with WJA-registered examination providers to deliver a series of open hydrodemolition courses across the country, to make it easier for WJA members to have their operatives trained. Details will be shared on the WJA website and via social media.
- The WJA is also working with members to launch an exciting new networking programme, with opportunities to play golf, go clay
- shooting and go-karting among activities planned. More information about these WJA-hosted event, to be held across the UK, will be shared soon.
- The WJA Board has approved a plan for the next WJA Trade Show to be staged in 2027, with new ideas being discussed to make it the biggest and best show to date, including new practical outdoor displays of water jetting in action.
- It has been decided that a new WJA Awards Evening will be held in conjunction with the association’s next AGM, which is to take place in September 2026. The event will allow the WJA to recognise the achievements of companies and individuals across the water jetting industry.
