WJA launches new courses to take coaching beyond water jetting

February 13, 2026  -  Water Jetting Association

The Water Jetting Association is ready to launch an exciting new series of courses that significantly expands its accredited coaching and examination programme.

The courses complement the association’s City & Guilds-accredited water jetting coaching and examination programme, allowing contractors to provide operatives with the skills and insights they need to deliver a wider range of services.

Three of the courses, CCTV, Gutter Cleaning, and Electro-Mechanical Cleaning have received City & Guilds accreditation and are due to be delivered from 1st April 2026.

WJA Chairman Lee O’Callaghan said: “This is an exciting moment for the WJA and our members. We’re expanding our offer in a direct response to requests from WJA members and other customers.

“Many drainage and industrial cleaning contractors who deliver water jetting services also deliver CCTV, electro-mechanical cleaning, and gutter cleaning services, or would like to.

“These courses offer coaching in these techniques, delivered to an unrivalled standard by the WJA-registered examination providers and WJA-approved coach/examiners who they already know and trust.

“This will make their team and service development simpler, more streamlined and more cost-effective, with the excellent outcomes they know they get from WJA courses.”

The one-day courses combine class-based and practical elements. They also require candidates to undergo a digital assessment using the CLiKAPAD system, with an 80% pass mark.

The assessment will generate a feedback report on each candidate that will assist employers in identifying further development needs, helping them to build stronger, competent teams.

The CCTV course will focus on the use of remote reel drainage inspection and survey systems commonly used by small and medium-sized drainage companies.

Coached skilled include how to set up and use the equipment, risk assessment and control, and sewer coding to WRc standards.

The Gutter Cleaning course covers the safe use of long-pole wet/dry vacuumation systems. While the Electro-Mechanical Cleaning course covers flexible cable systems with rotating cleaning heads used to remove stubborn blockages and scale from pipes.

More than 20,000 of the WJA’s City & Guilds-accredited water jetting courses are delivered every year, with take-up in the UK and internationally growing annually.

To qualify for operational jetting cards, candidates must pass the WJA’s safety awareness course and at least one of five practical modules.

This will increase to six with the launch, later in 2026, of a new drain, sewer and robotics module.

Operational cards are valid for three years, then have to be renewed by candidates passing a safety awareness refresher course.
