WJA AGM takes place at home of Saracens Rugby Club
The WJA Annual General Meeting was held at the StoneX Stadium, home of the Saracens Rugby Club, on Wednesday 11th September 2024.
In January 2023, Members of the Water Jetting Association voted for the organisation to become an incorporated Company at a Special General Meeting. In December 2023, the WJA was incorporated and became a Company Ltd by Guarantee.
WJA Director Leanne Smith said: “This was a major decision for the WJA, which has been a not-for-profit organisation since it was founded.
“The decision has allowed us to change our governance arrangements and in turn, this will allow us to introduce initiatives that will greatly benefit and include members, and the water jetting industry as a whole.”
The new WJA Board replaces a ruling council and two committees – a technical committee and a training and safety committee.
The Board is made up of 10 WJA members plus Leanne Smith, Director and the WJA’s Technical Manager, Gordon Taylor.
The 10 members are paired up to lead five categories – Finance, Technical, Membership, Coaching/Examination and Marketing.
The Board Members for each category will also be able to set up sub-groups made up of other member representatives to work on specific projects.
Leanne Smith said: “This way, there can still be wider involvement in the WJA’s work and we can draw on our members expertise”.
The Board members will vote for one of their own to be the Chairperson at the first Board Meeting in November.
