WJA App grows from strength to strength

Water jetting companies and operatives are finding it easier than ever to access the information they need and make key decisions thanks to the continued development of the WJA App.

Since the Water Jetting Association launched the app in January 2024, thousands of water jetting personnel, including operatives attending training courses, have joined as users.

The app is now the primary way both water jetting companies and operatives can keep track of their membership and training information, plus technical and updates issued by the association.

Confidence in developing WJA services

Important new functionality has been added in recent months, making the app even easier to use and more helpful in making key decisions on important topics, including operational safety.

WJA Director Leanne Smith says: “Having the app gives us confidence that we can develop our services for WJA members and water jetting personnel in a sustainable, cost-effective way.

“It is central to the transformation of our administrative functions, eliminating a huge volume of costly paperwork and allowing us to respond more quickly and effectively to our members’ needs.”

The WJA App now has more than 22,000 users, which represents an annual average growth rate of over 100%. Just under 4,000 new users have been added to the app since the start of 2026.

WJA App helps promote new single code

An average of 2,500 people are actively using the app every month.

The most actively used function has been the downloading of membership and training certificates, followed by accessing in formation in the WJA’s three codes of practice.

Now those codes of practice have been replaced by one code – known as the WJA Black Code, due to its black cover – the WJA is hoping its availability via the app will accelerate its uptake.

A key objective of moving from three codes to one has been to simplify the promotion of high water jetting standards. Combining this with the instant accessibility of the app is expected to be very beneficial.

Other new features added in recent months include a document hub, now updated with the latest advice about reducing the risk of infections related to water jetting activities.

The app also provides access to the WJA water jetting injury treatment algorithm, developed as a result of medical research funded by the WJA, which provides vital advice on responding to fluid injection injuries.

New app features continuously added

Water jetting companies can now also book their operatives onto open training courses via the app, making it easier for them to access training needed in a timely way.

A new evaluation form has also been added, so candidates can give feedback on the courses they attend.

Leanne Smith said: “We’ll be continuing to develop the WJA App in the coming months to make it even easier to use, with additional functionality.

“It’s central to our purpose, which is to drive up safety and operational standards across the water jetting industry and to provide our members with services and support that allows them to thrive.”
