Water jetting specialists of all types see advantage of WJA membership

From long-established regional drainage companies to hydrodemolition specialists and personal protective clothing suppliers – the Water Jetting Association’s latest members come from all sectors across the UK water jetting industry.
The breadth of interest in being part of the UK’s trade body for water jetting reflects the important benefits WJA membership offers to businesses of all types and sizes, says WJA Director Leanne Smith.
Exclusive member benefits
She adds: “I’d like to warmly welcome our new members to the WJA. We’re determined that all members should get maximum value from being part of the WJA, and I believe the range of new members joining in increasing numbers strongly reflects that pledge.
“Exciting developments, including the expansion of our City & Guilds-accredited training programme, development of our new single code of practice, and exclusive member benefits we’ll be introducing in 2026 will strengthen the case for WJA membership still further.”
The WJA has also worked hard to make it easier for businesses to join and access valuable member services. A new, streamlined membership structure has been introduced. New digital application forms make joining up simpler and faster. And the WJA App provides instant on-the-go access to expert guidance, including the WJA’s codes of practice.
‘We want to work to WJA standards’
One new member, Drain Clear, is a long-established family-run drainage contractor based in Bromyard, Herefordshire.
Founded by Ted Timmins, he now runs the firm in partnership with his son. His grandson also works in the business, which operates across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and parts of Mid-Wales.
Ted Timmins said: “Health and safety has always been central to what we do, and we’ve always made sure our operatives have WJA training.
“We’ve now joined the association because we want to be sure we’re working to the latest water jetting standards. Membership gives us access to the WJA’s codes of practice. We can also contact the WJA any time to get advice.
“We work for a lot of large organisations, like local authorities and the NHS, so it will help us to be able say we’re WJA members and uphold the water jetting industries standards.”
Opportunity to reach new customers
Water jetting pump and equipment manufacturer falch has also joined the WJA. Company Area Sales Manager George Moffat said it would help falch provide customers with the most up-to-date and relevant guidance on jetting.
He added: “The WJA sets the recognised standard for water jetting in the UK, and knowledge sharing on topics such as safety can only be positive for the industry and collective WJA members.
“Being a member will provide us with a great opportunity to be visible in the network of WJA members. We’re expecting to reach customers we may not have reached before.”
Demonstrating safe practices
Mechanical, civil and industrial services specialist JCE Renewable Services has joined the WJA because it is keen to demonstrate it sets the highest standards across a range of services, including abrasive water jetting cutting and hydrodemolition.
Company Managing Director John Eggleston said: “High and ultra-high pressure water jetting is a high-risk process that requires specialist knowledge and experience.
“We want to demonstrate our understanding of that, and the measures we take to carry out our work safely, by being part of the WJA. I know this is going to help us as we develop our specialist jetting services.”
WJA membership ‘will help our business’
Watermaiden is a specialist water treatment and waste processing company, based in Fawley, Hampshire, which also delivers high and ultra-high pressure jetting services for cleaning pipes and tanks.
Dean Rutter, Framework Manager at the company, said: “We see being a WJA member as helping us expand our business. Prospective new clients want to know we follow industry approved standards.
“For water jetting that means the WJA’s codes of practice. Being a member will help our teams embed the codes of practice in their everyday work. We’re sure it will help our business.”
Another new WJA member is Safetech UHP Solutions. The company, based in Denmark, manufactures high-performance personal protective equipment for water jetting at pressures up to 3000 bar (44,000 psi), including specialist clothing and hose shrouds.
