First WJA Social hits networking and knowledge-sharing bullseye
The first WJA Social has been enthusiastically praised by Water Jetting Association members, saying it was a great opportunity to meet like-minded business professionals, share ideas and build business contacts.
The event, the first of a series planned, was held at a hotel in Coventry, and was designed as a way for members to meet and network in a relaxed social environment.
WJA Chairman Lee O’Callaghan, who attended the WJA Social, said there was a good mix of contractors, manufactures and service providers in attendance.
WJA membership working for businesses
He added: “It was a very enjoyable evening, and we were very pleased we had the chance to meet new members who came along, as well as long-standing ones.
“In fact, WJA Socials will be the perfect opportunity for new members to get the most from their membership. It’s one of a number of new ways we’re making sure WJA membership works for all businesses.”
WJA Socials are designed to be broadly unstructured, giving those attending the chance to eat and drink together while networking. The event in Coventry also included a darts competition.
Thomas Baxter, Managing Director of CCTV inspection system specialist Rausch UK, a new WJA member, attended the WJA Social and enjoyed the experience.
WJA membership – ‘building our presence’
He said: “It was a chance to meet WJA members with different outlooks and experiences. We had some good conversations, including with people with the potential to be future customers.
“It was also very useful to get plenty of time to chat with Lee and the WJA’s technical manager, Gordon Taylor, about new developments in training and the new WJA single code of practice.
“I believe being a WJA member will help us build our business presence across the UK. So, meeting new business contacts like this is a valuable way to develop useful relationships going forward.”
Ollie Newport, who specialises in supporting water jetting businesses as a Development Executive at Howden Insurance, said: “It was nice to catch up with friends from across the water jetting and drainage industries.
“Chatting in a more relaxed environment allowed us to cover issues of interest that could be missed in more structured business meetings. The knowledge sharing and networking opportunities these WJA Socials will create are invaluable.”
WJA Technical Manager Gordon Taylor was pleased with how the event went, though not his darts skills. He said: “The less said about the darts, the better! But the conversations we had away from the oche were very useful, for the WJA and members alike.”
Future WJA Socials are being planned at locations across the UK. They are free to attend and are open to representatives from all WJA members.
