OBITUARY NOTICE Water Jetting Pioneer Bill Crompton

Bill Crompton, one of the pioneers of the water jetting industry in the UK, has died at the age of 90.

He played a key role in the foundation, in 1980, of the Association of High-Pressure Water Jetting Contractors, which went on to become the Water Jetting Association (WJA).

Bill was the founder of Waterblast Ltd and co-founder of Neolith Pumps London Ltd. He then became a consultant with Lanes for Drains, which later become Lanes Group plc. His son, Bruce, heads up the Lanes Rail Division, and is a director of the company.

Bill passed away in hospital in Norwich just before Christmas after a short illness.

WJA Director David Kennedy, who worked with Bill and Bruce for 15 years at Neolith Pumps London Ltd, said: “It was very sad to hear the news of Bill’s passing. He was a pioneer in the early days of water jetting. He was an astute businessman and a loyal friend.

“Bill always had the best interests of the water jetting industry at heart. He was also a great supporter of the WJA as he always set high standards in his work and recognised the need to promote those standards across the industry.”

FUNERAL NOTICE:

The funeral will take place at: St Mary’s Church, Monewden, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP13 7DA on Tuesday 14th January 2020 at 12.00 (Midday) – the service is open to anyone who wants to attend, Bruce Crompton would be delighted to see colleagues from the Water Jetting Association and the wider industry.
