PPE IN CONFINED SPACE

    To All

Just a query which I hope someone may be able to give some guidance on.

During jetting operations inside a confined space, what would be the recommended PPE to be worn in conjunction with the TST suit and slicker suit, hard hat with full face visor, ear defenders, gloves and metatarsal boots.

Would Nomex coveralls and white suit under the above be practical? Considering, movement constraints, Heat exhaustion etc.

    Any thoughts would be welcome.

Hi all no easy answer to this one but you have mentioned all the PPE you MAY need in a confined space. The UK confined space legislation reg 4 states we should consider doing the task without entry. If we are relying on PPE you have to consider the wearer, having worn this type of PPE in the past i know it does have an effect on the wearers mobility and heat does become a problem we would have a strict rotation policy in place so we limit the operatives exposure, in summary there is no magic bullet for this but a combination of control measures.
